...four weeks later!

Hi there! Long time, no see. I’ve been meaning to write, but you know how life gets in the way?

So, since we last spoke?

Well, I got married.

(Awesome photography by Thorson Photography – I actually looked like a warthog, it’s all in the camera angles ;)

(Awesome hair, well, my hair, Heather’s and Sarah’s by Johanne’s Hair Do’s)

(Awesome flowers by Manuka Flowers)

(Wedding dress by Halo from La Belle)

(Veil from Brides of Manuka)

(Bridesmaids dresses from Events)

We went on honeymoon to Vanuatu. Many cocktails were consumed and massages enjoyed. All three and a half bikinis were needed (No proof of bikinis, children may be present).

I had to be removed with a crowbar. (Excellent house-sitting by Silkydoll)

We opened all our wedding presents and our jaws hit the floor. People are so thoughtful and generous – thankyou! Thankyou cards are in process… life just keeps getting in the way! The gifts of money allowed us to buy a (desperately needed) new fridge. October 23rd is Fridge Day for the rest of my life! Thankyou!

I went back to work. Hurrah.

My surname has sort of changed but I’m still a Ms. This is very confusing to the under-16s. I have given the Miss, Ms, Mrs lecture to three classes so far. The girls either nod knowingly or gasp in comprehension and become feminists before my very eyes… and the yr 8 boys sadly ask me why they don’t get a special title (I’ve tried to explain, believe me).

My garden exploded while I was away and my Grannies Bonnets that were shoe-sized before I left are now shrubs. It is a very happy situation (except they set off Monkey’s hayfever). The irises I planted, hoping they’d be out for the wedding because they match my bouquet, are finally out. I LOVE them. And the roses are cusping

Life is good

PS. No-one says you have to change your nom de plume when you get hitched, so there.

the joys of silk

I may be just a tad OCD (i'm sure i've mentioned it before).

For example:(hey, I didn't say it was necessarily a bad thing to have OCD). So yeah, count it! also, i frikkin hate the crochet cast off but love how it looks and blocks. grr. that was a three and a half hour process... just casting!
totally worth it though..
While we wait for it to dry, let's all enjoy some Black Beauty roses.

Happy Weekend,
Ms Spider xo

coming up roses

Before i start going on and on (and on) about knitting, i thought i would show you all what's been happening in my garden (what with the rain and all).

What with the miraculous properties rain has (above and beyond tap water or grey water) my roses have exploded.
Napoli (i think. It's something Napoli... supposedly a minature but it got huge this year)
Just Joey, just expanding.Double Delight with white snapdragon snuggling it.
Black Beauty (not as dark as i was expecting but very pretty nonetheless.
There are more flowers but i'll save them for later in the week.

In knitting news.. i have been focused on that tank. oh yeah. in fact, if i am irresponsible with my english marking over the weekend i may very well be able to wear it tomorrow (w00t!).

I have also had quite a bit come in this week...
my EGMTK fibre club package for November... excitement!
Some more Fibreworks 2ply silk because i lub the purple one so much.and a certain enabler we all know may have made some miraculous purchases, one of which i shall show you.Naturally Merino et Soie 8ply... 10 balls. *drool*
you hate me now, right?
ah well, bound to happen.

Peace out,
Ms Spider xo

PS Happy end of the regime!

PPS Pomegranates are yummy.

out of my hands

So the whole uni thing is.. well. It has been a drama, but at this point i've handed everything in and all i can do is hope to pass.. and then i'll have my degree.
This is a deeply strange concept for me. and I'm not as thrilled as ought to be, partially because i have a sneaking suspiscion that the universe isnt done screwing with me and so i may not pass.. and also because it's only been about 6 hours since i handed in my last piece of work and it hasnt caught up to me yet. But Monkey and i have some alcohol and some thai food coming and i'm rewarding myself by knitting my silk shawl. so it will come.

Those sweetpeas that has me guessing have finally come clean; pink, lavender and deep pink. they are very pretty and i love the scent.
This is one of the roses i planted a few months ago, it was really just a stick in the ground a month ago. I believe it's calle Friesia (which seems a little odd). i think of it as candlelabra because the buds and eventual flowers are very long and very yellow indeed. can't wait for it to open properly.
Oh and tonights dessert. Can't tell you how glad i am i worked so hard on the garden this winter, it's really paying off. which seems to sort of be mirroring my career now doesnt it?

Peace out,
Ms Spider xo
